Psalm 120

Setting

I call upon the LORD in my distress;

Free Church of Scotland psalter · 10 10 10 10

The words

I call upon the LORD in my distress; He listens to my prayer and answers me. Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips And from all tongues that speak deceitfully.

What will he do to you, deceitful tongue? What more besides will be your fitting doom? With warriors’ arrows he will pierce you through, And punish you with burning coals of broom.

What misery to live in Meshech’s land, In Kedar’s tents, among my enemies! With people loving strife I’ve lived too long; They are for war, but I’m a man of peace.

How is this list ordered?

Curated pairings come first — a tune a curator recorded against this text, with the fitness they recorded. A tune that merely shares the meter is listed as a tune in the same meter and never as a pairing.

Nothing here is ranked by popularity or use. The page reports what a curator recorded, not a verdict of its own.
